PALM GREENS X MEERA SODHA COLLAB

Meera Sodha x Palm Greens

Palm Greens have teamed up with chef, author + Guardian columnist Meera Sodha to release a limited-edition salad bowl, available exclusively at Arcade this summer.

Meera’s Forbidden Rice Salad features shallow fried ginger tempeh and blanched asparagus layered on a base of nutty black rice with courgette, peas, pickled basil, and a generous drizzle of cashew ginger miso dressing.

Meera Sodha x Palm Greens

Meera is the award-winning author of cookbooks Made In India, Fresh India and East, as well as a weekly column for The Guardian, The New Vegan. Her passion for cooking is rooted in her Ugandan Indian heritage and desire to continue the culinary traditions set by her ancestors.

The name of the salad is a nod to the modern luxury of accessible ingredients that were once considered rare or ‘forbidden’.

“So many ingredients that we now eat freely were once unavailable to the masses. Black rice, for example, was rare and forbidden to all but the Chinese Emperor,” Meera explains. “I like remembering this because it makes me feel lucky to be eating it now. As it happens, it’s also incredibly delicious. Both chewy and nutty, and it goes incredibly well with summer greens and a sharp, miso dressing.”

Available this summer at Arcade

Founders of Palm Greens Kali and Memby are thrilled to be collaborating with Meera on a new dish to add to the nutritionally-balanced and satisfying salad bowls on the menu. “Meera’s style and flavours feel so well aligned with our own,” says chef Kali, “We’ve chosen to go with spring and summer snappy green vegetables, fresh herbs, and club cultured tempeh to create a flavoursome, fresh, and fun dish that’s highly nutritious as well. We know you’ll love it as much as we do!”

Try the Forbidden Rice salad now at both Arcade Battersea or Tottenham Court Road - including on our suntrap terrace.
